How to tell a good squonk mod from a repack
We run sour the same way in Nouméa: same squonk mod, same 6 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
Sour prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF1.61 per 10 ml.
Below is the run we did for this search: 23 units, squonk mod, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a sour squonk mod really costs in Nouméa
The honest read on sour: 23 units through the same routine over 6 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
How we tested sour in a squonk mod
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Pick the squonk mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 6–12 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
- Coil type inside the squonk mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Batch code and production date, so a sour bottle turned in 6 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where sour goes wrong
- Assuming varies is uniform across brands, because two suppliers can label the same number differently.
- Chasing a discount on a squonk mod that then needs an adapter nobody in New Caledonia stocks.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why sour tastes flat after two days.

What nicotine strength should sour start at?
Start at whatever New Caledonia allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a squonk mod.
How long does sour in a squonk mod last?
In Nouméa we measured 6 to 23 days per unit depending on the coil. The bottle outlasts the coil, so the coil is what you replace.
