Coil life, liquid cost and the iced habit
Most people searching IQOS in New Caledonia are not after a spec sheet. They want to know what it costs, how long it lasts and which shop will still service it in three months.
Iced prices move with import duty more than with brand. In Nouméa that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within XPF1.66 per 10 ml.
Below is the run we did for this search: 9 units, pen device, same room temperature, same juice rotation. Where results varied, the variation is printed rather than averaged away.
What a iced pen device really costs in Nouméa
A iced pen device from the discounted options in New Caledonia costs about XPF1.66 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested iced in a pen device
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Caledonia, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 6–12 business days.
- Coil type inside the pen device, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every iced bottle shipped into New Caledonia.
- Spare parts availability for pen device in New Caledonia, since tanks and pods go first.
- Batch code and production date, so a iced bottle turned in 5 weeks ago is not sold as new.
Where iced goes wrong
- Treating the advertised XPF49 entry kit as the real cost when refills run XPF1.66 per 10 ml.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why iced tastes flat after two days.
- Skipping the spare coil, which is the single part that decides how long iced in Nouméa survives.
